SEIKO WITH NO ISSUES

I am sorry to read that some people on my watch website have been suffering glitches or blemishes with your Seikos. I have had none of that with today's watch. 

We’re walking along a section of beach we've never walked before. It’s very busy for 8:15 in the am on a weekday in October!

This is the unusual 5-subdial Seiko Sportura Kinetic Chronograph 40th anniversary edition wtih ceramic bezel. It features an electric-generator (kinetic), with quartz controller, combined with a mechanical stopwatch mechanism.

AN UPSCALE LOOK AT BALBOA PARK

  We are running out of Seikos, and today my wife is wearing her dressy, high-class Seiko -- and proving that men's Seikos don't get all the pretty blue dials.  BTW, that is NOT a tiny date window above 6 o'clock, it's the Seiko quartz symbol. We decided to go to Balboa Park today. Here's the approach to the iconic bridge across the Cabrillo Freeway. Balboa Park was originally called "City Park," but was renamed after Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa, in honor of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, held in the Park that year.   Balboa Park was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977. It is maintained by San Diego Parks & Recreation Dept. Our intention was to walk on sidewalks, concrete or asphalt, and not in the post-rainstorm mud. Little did we know how hard it had rained! DARK INTO DAY, OVER GLORIETTA BAY

  We started our walk today near the iconic tower of the Hotel del Coronado, one of the oldest wooden structures in this part of the country. The Christmas decorations are have not yet been taken down. This is the "Boathouse" on Glorietta Bay, and we are looking southeast towards the rising sun. We had been in this bay before, coming in by boat, but had never walked along the waterfront. It's very nice. I can imagine having a boat here, if the slips ever open up. As you have seen a few times before when we walked 4-5 miles south of here ( Sunrise in South Bay ), San Diego's Harbor provides a nice smooth mirror for the morning sky. Coronado's City Hall, a community theatre, and swimming pool occupy the strip along the bay. We can see Navy commuters crossing the bridge, headed for North Island or the SEAL training base. While old retired folk are doing laps in the steaming civic pool. There were two boats tied at the launch ramp dock. No one was launching. I forgot ...

CHOLLAS LAKE IS FOR THE BIRDS

We expected fog in the morning, so we planned a trip inland about 6 miles from the bay. I was planning to stay clean and dry, so didn't need a tough watch.  Let me introduce the newest addition to the collection, which I couldn't resist yesterday when we went to the Seiko store. Yes, it's for my wife eventually, but the bracelet fits my 7 3/8" wrist and I kinda like the look of it. I made the right call to go inland. The sunrise was great again today. Chollas Reservoir used to be one of the main water storage facilities for the city. When I was a kid it was not open to the public. A shame, because we lived only a mile away. After other, larger reservoirs were built, they opened Chollas for shore use and as a kid's fishing lake. But I was already 30 then so couldn't fish :-(. This is a view looking west towards the dam; the rising sun behind me is lighting up the clouds. We walked to the west end; now you can see eastward. It's about 3/4 mile around the lake...
