WALKING WITH A SEIKO 1520
What's a 1520? Who cares right now -- look at that sky!

These sunrises never bore me. I hope they're not becoming tedious for you.

OK, here is a Seiko 1520. I think that number is Seiko shorthand for "Visbility? What visibility!"

We walked around a 27-acre complex today, called Hickman Field. You can look it up if you want but basically it's an area owned by the US Govt military dedicated to field sports, and named after a Navy pilot who rode his plane down into the adjacent canyon rather than eject and have it hit an adjacent elementary school where hundreds of kids were on the playground. A hero.
I was in 3rd grade (at a different school) when it happened. Our community was heavily Navy, and my father was a Navy pilot who died when his plane crashed, so the story resonated with me then and now. I knew vaguely what it was about but had never been there. So we checked it out...

My wife was a PE teacher and coach for 35 years in this city and she'd never been there either. Notice the sky has brightened considerably.

Grass in San Diego is seldom this green!

Most of the playing fields were in pristine shape, enjoying a few months off during this COVID time. Several (like this one) had been reseeded and looked beautful.

The skies kept changing overhead, while we trudged through what seemed like a half-mile of fresh gravel.

High clouds, warm winds and no time to linger longer.

We crossed designer pavements.

over hills and under dales,

and we arrived at the hospital just in time.

After some small talk, the surgeon told me "I don't want to see you again, You are fine as far as my specialty is concerned." Hooray. Then we went off to another wing where they cheerfully extracted some vital fluids and sent me home.

My hand survived the puncture so I was able to dismantle my Seiko for your viewing pleasure. Here's the tiny 1520, which looks a lot like a certain famous JLC movement.

I'm going to run out of Seiko watches in about a week, so unless I repair a few more or buy some, the morning walks and posts will end before Christmas.

Other areas were waiting their turn for attention.

Speaking of waiting, our time was almost up. Too bad, because I really wanted to hotwire this Turf Tiger and take it for a spin.

Have a bright day, and remember it's not quite winter (here, anyway).
